Support Our Shelter

Benny ate his last full meal four days ago. He is one of 12 dogs at the shelter right now.

My dad Tim is 82 and has been rescuing dogs for over 40 years. He covers everything out of pocket. Food, meds, vet bills, bedding. It adds up.

100% of what you give here goes directly to the dogs.

Even a few dollars helps. ❤️

A Message from Tim

Hi everyone, my name is Tim. I'm 82 years old, and my wife and I have spent many years running a small animal shelter in Australia. The dogs you see here are just a few of the ones we've cared for—animals who arrived scared, abandoned, or forgotten.

Right now, the shelter is struggling. Funds are low, and my wife's health is declining. If we can't keep the shelter open, these dogs will have nowhere to go. After everything they've been through, the thought of that is heartbreaking.

There's no pressure at all, but if you choose to support us, it truly makes a difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I love all of you.

— Tim

What Happens When a Shelter Closes?

Most people don't think about it. You drive past a shelter, maybe you see a sign, and you keep going. But inside those walls, there are dogs who have already lost everything—their homes, their families, the only humans they ever trusted.

When a shelter closes, those dogs don't just "go somewhere else." There is no somewhere else. Overcrowded council pounds become the last stop. And for older dogs, sick dogs, dogs who are scared or shut down from trauma—the ones who need the most time and patience—the clock starts ticking the moment they walk through those doors.

"Last Tuesday, I sat on the floor with Gator for twenty minutes. He can't see anymore, but he pressed his head against my knee and just stayed there, breathing slowly. He wasn't asking for much. Just to not be alone. That's all any of them want." — Tim

Tim's Haven isn't a big operation. There's no marketing team. No corporate sponsors. It's an 82-year-old man and his wife, on their property, doing everything they can to keep 12 dogs alive, fed, and safe.

He hasn't asked for sympathy. He hasn't complained. He just keeps showing up every morning at 5am, filling water bowls, cleaning kennels, sitting with the dogs who are too scared to eat unless someone is beside them.

But he can't do it alone anymore.

Meet the Dogs Who Need You

Each of these dogs has a story. Each one is waiting for someone to care.

Gator

Meet Gator

1 Year Old • Chihuahua/Terrier mix
Blind • Found under a bridge

When rescuers found him, Gator didn't know which way to turn. His cloudy eyes show that his vision has faded, making the world a confusing and frightening place. He sat perfectly still on the cold floor, unable to see who was approaching, just hoping the hands reaching out were kind ones.

Despite his limited sight, Gator has a spirit that just wants to connect. He navigates the world with his heart, tilting his large ears to listen for a friendly voice.

Your support helps Gator get specialized medical care, warm bedding, and the chance to live in safety.

Benny

Meet Benny

5 Years Old • Terrier mix
Neglected • Found behind a factory

Benny was discovered hiding behind a warehouse, curled up on a thin blanket that someone had thrown away. When rescuers approached, he didn't run—he just stared with those scared, confused eyes, unsure whether he'd be hurt again.

His fur was matted, he was covered in fleas, and he's clearly been neglected for a long time. Even after everything, Benny is gentle. When he realises you're kind, he pushes his head into your hand like he's desperate for someone to finally love him.

Your support helps dogs like Benny get a second chance.

↑ Help Save Benny
Pongo

Meet Pongo

2 Years Old • Dalmatian
Underweight • Abandoned at bus stop

Pongo was discovered curled tightly on a cold bench, shaking and too scared to move. Passers-by said she'd been there for hours, waiting for someone who never came back.

She's severely underweight, has pressure sores from sleeping on concrete, and flinches at sudden movements. Despite everything, when rescuers lifted her up, she buried her face in their arms like she'd finally realised she was safe.

Your support helps Pongo heal and find the loving home she deserved from the start.

↑ Help Save Pongo
Willow

Meet Willow

1 Year Old • Shepherd mix
Neglect case • Confiscated

Willow arrived terrified and shaking, his tail tucked so tightly it barely moved. He came from a home where he spent most of his time locked in a small laundry room, rarely let outside, and often ignored.

When officers brought him in, he wouldn't lift his head. But the moment a volunteer sat beside him, he leaned in slowly, as if asking whether it was finally safe to trust someone.

Your support helps Willow get medical care, behavioural support, and a real chance at the good life he's never known.

↑ Help Save Willow
Bruce

Meet Bruce

8 Years Old • Great Dane
Senior • Years of neglect

Bruce arrived heartbreakingly thin, with pressure sores on his hips. His previous owner moved house and left him behind—neighbours reported he waited by the gate every day, hoping someone would come back.

By the time rescuers found him, he was too weak to stand for long. Even now, he watches the door, like he's still waiting for the life he lost.

Your support helps Bruce get medical care, proper nutrition, and the safe home he should have had all along.

Mila

Meet Mila

1 Year Old • Lab mix
Starved • Found in alleyway

Mila was discovered curled up beside a dumpster, shaking from fear and hunger. Neighbours said she had been wandering the street for days after being dumped.

Your support helps Mila get food, warmth, and the chance to feel safe for the first time.

Shadow

Meet Shadow

6 Months Old • Brindle Pit Mix

Your support helps Shadow receive food, warmth, and the stability he's never had.

The Night We Almost Lost Peaches

Written by a shelter volunteer

I've been volunteering at Tim's Haven on weekends for about six months. Some mornings are hard. You walk in and a dog who was eating yesterday won't touch food today. You watch Tim, at 82, carry a bag of kibble that's half his weight because nobody else was around.

But the night that broke me was two weeks ago.

Tim called me around 9pm. His voice was shaking. Peaches had stopped eating entirely. She was lying on her side, breathing shallow. He'd been sitting with her on the floor for three hours, just talking to her, because he didn't want her to be alone if things went badly.

"I told her she was a good girl. That someone out there was going to love her properly one day. I don't know if dogs understand words, but I think she understood she wasn't alone. That mattered." — Tim

We got Peaches to an emergency vet at 11pm. The vet said another 24 hours and she likely wouldn't have made it. That visit cost $1,400. Tim paid it out of his own pocket because the shelter fund was empty.

Peaches is recovering now. But there are 11 other dogs, and Tim can't keep funding emergencies from his retirement savings.

I know you probably see things like this online all the time. But this isn't a faceless charity. This is one elderly couple keeping animals alive because nobody else will.

If you've read this far, you already care more than most people. The donation area is right at the top of this page.
